The Great Solution

Friday, May 21st, 2010

What on earth can be solved in  24 hours?

If I don’t take a drink today then is is a sure thing that I won’t

need one one tomorrow.”

Sounds to Simple

” When I had a serious dranking  problem just over 37 years

ago, someone  told me that it is O K to plan to party and  to

have all the dranks I want tomorrow. I just could not have

them today.”

To me that did not make any sense.

The Big Question….Can I not drink any alcohol for

24 hours…just one day.

My answer was … Yes, I have done  that many times. My problem

is that when I start I don’t know when to stop.

It is like turning on a light switch.

The Great Solution is….Focus on just on day. Always keep

today in the forefront.Remember…If I don’t drink  that first drank

today I know for sure  Iwill not need one tomorrow.

When do I start my 24 hours ?

You can start any time you wish? Let’s say at 2:15 PM this

afternoon you recieve some bad news. Someone you were

close to just died or perhaps you were just involved in a car

accident.

I simply start my 24 hours at that time. I take a

moment to say a simple prayer…God, thank you

for the past 24 hours of good sobriety. Grant me

another 24 hours of good sobriety.

Just keep It Simple…

I seem to be rambling on a bit.Until Next Time. John

Have   another 24 hours of good sobriety.

Stay Positive

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Stay positive because it always pays.

Our life is like a theater.

Shakespeare said “all the world is just a stage

and all the men and women in it are merely players.

He forgot to mention that I was a chief critic. Somehow

I had become very negative toward everything.

Some of the players are positive and some of the

players are negative. Naturally you can choose to

be either. Please take a seat on the front row and

observe carefully. Take  your time and choose people

who are positive to be friends with so you can build

positive relationships. Believe me this matters.

Positive friends and family members always lift

you up while negative friends and family members

always drag you down.Sure, it is always hard to let

go. You don’t have to abandon them…just don’t let

them influnce you with there negative ways.

We are all trying to grow    PHYSICALLY…

MENTALLY… AND… SPRITUALLY  So be aware

of the players and use each 24 hours to improve.

You don’t have to do it forever just each 24 hours

as the come along .You are not alone. Everyone of

us gets caught up in Negative thinking at some point

or other.   Stay aware and try to be positive…

Remember Being positive pays big dividens.

Until Next Time…John

Footnote…Taking any mind alturering drug or

drinking alcohol lead us to negative thinking

THE SERENITY PRAYER

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

I may have posted on this before but it is back by popular demand.

Actually I am going to give you the short version…most widely used.

Then I will give you the longer version … the one most people don’t

know about. Then I will give a brief history of this famous prayer. I

will do some research and next week  a more history about it.

God grant me the  SERENITY to accept the things I

cannot change;

COURAGE to change the things I can; and

WISDOM to know the difference.

This is the short version used  around the world by Religions  Alcoholics

Anonymous and many other twelve step programs. It is very short and to

the point. Now for the Long Version…

God gront me the SERENITY to accept the things;

I cannot change

COURAGE to change the things I can and

Wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;

Enjoying one moment at a time;

Accepting hardships as a pathway to peace;

Taking, as He did,this sinful world as it is,

not as I would have it.

Trusting that He will make all things right if I

surrender to His Will;

That I may be reasonably happy in his life and

supremely happy with Him forever in the next… Amen

I hope you enjoyed this post  and may have learned a little

about  the history…which dates back to the 1500′s.

Rheinhold Neighbar of the Luthern Church in 1928

More history next post…Until Next Time John

The Final Analysis

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

The Final Analysis is just a version of the Paradoxical Commandments

written by Kent M. Keith and used by Mother  Teresa while serving in

Calcutta ,India. She used these  as a guide for proper living.

One.People are often unreasonable illogical and self centered;

Forgive them anyway.

Two If you are kind,people will accuse you of selfish,ulterior motives;

Be kind any way.

Three If you are successful. you will win some false friends and some true enemies;

Succeed anyway.

Four If you are honest and frank , people will cheat you;

Be honest and frank anyway.

Five What you spend years building, someone may desroy overnight;

Build  anyway.

Six If you find serenity and happiness ,some may be jealous;

Be serene and happy anyway;

Seven The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;

Do good anyway.

Eight Give the world the best you have,and it may never enough;

Give the world the best you have anyway.

The Final Analysis…It is between you and God and

is never between you and them anyway..

Dr. Wayne W. Dyer….There’s a Spiritusl Solution to Every Problem

Have a wonderful 24 hours   Until Next Time….John  Thanks
